Shopping from old town Antibes to Cannes

29 Jun 2018

It is no secret that old town Antibes to Cannes is something of a treasure trove for those with a taste for finery.

Whether you’re a food lover searching for the finest cheese France has to offer; an art enthusiast looking for a sculpture to add to your collection; or a fashionista on the hunt for the perfect bikini to wear on the beautiful southern sands, you’re in the right place on the Riviera!

“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.” William Morris

The shopping scene in the French Riviera’s coastal towns and villages is a strong contributor to the area’s reputation for luxury, style and elegance.

A short stroll

Start your shopping with a short stroll from Parc du Cap into the old town centre. Awaiting you is a wonderful array of boutique shops offering high-end designer clothing, jewellery and accessories.  Workshops and galleries showcase the work of some of the region’s best-known artists and sculptors. Stop off for a coffee and a macaroon in one of the town’s pretty cafe.  After that, live the quintessential French grocery shopping experience at Marche Provencal. This covered market in the pretty Cours Massena is the place to buy your everyday delicacies – from lavish bunches of lavender from nearby Provence to large wheels of French cheese.

Similarly, shopping a little further up the coast is equally delightful. There are plenty of hotspots worth a visit.  Cannes’ Promenade de la Croisette offers perhaps the most enjoyable experience in the region. International brands like Chanel and Louis Vuitton intermingle with independent boutiques and five-star hotels. Elsewhere, excellent restaurants and sumptuous ice-cream parlours along this three-kilometre boardwalk that overlooks the white sands and sparkling Mediterranean Sea. Finally rest your legs a while on the beach and enjoy the stunning views of Ile Sainte-Marguerite, just half a mile offshore.  For more ideas about beaches near Parc du Cap click here.

We think the Riviera rivals the shopping scene anywhere in France. We wish you many a wonderful shopping spree this summer!
